Brian S. Allard
Brian S. Allard is a lighting designer for theatre, dance, opera, and architecture. His theatrical lighting designs have been seen on stage throughout Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, Chicago, and New York, as well as internationally. He has designed at the Kennedy Center, the Lincoln Theatre, the New Victory Theatre, the Ordway, the Smithsonian Institution, the Ailey Citigroup Theater, and the CityDance Center at Strathmore. Brian is a five-time nominee for Helen Hayes Awards for Excellence in Lighting Design (winning once), and has been a finalist two times for the Metro DC Dance Awards; his architectural work has been recognized with a Candela Award from the Illuminating Engineering Society’s DC chapter. He has worked on more than 150 museum exhibits with the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum, National Museum of the American Indian, National Civil Rights Museum, Lockheed Martin, and the National Institutes of Health. Brian also programs lights for permanent architectural installations, including M&T Bank Stadium and Washington's Golden Triangle Business Improvement District.
